My Success Story
During my 8th class I shifted my school from Hindi medium to English medium, studying in Hindi medium I was the topper since childhood but I was very bad with English language, I didn’t know how to frame a complete sentence on my own, let alone speaking in English. However, realizing the importance of English, my parents decided to get me admitted in an English medium school; I sat for the entrance test got 1/100 in English, 10/100 in Mathematics needless to say couldn’t get selected, but got the admission on recommendation.
First day at school, I joined a month later then everyone, couldn’t understand anything, speaking English was a compulsion there so couldn’t really talk to anyone as well. Without friends and with no idea what to do, the lack of confidence and self-doubt was immense. Joined tuition for all the subjects and started studying.
Before 10 days of the first quarterly exams my tuition teacher asked me to leave as she thought it’s impossible to make me cover up and which would bring her bad name as I will surely not survive in that school.
In the first quarterly exams, failed in 6 subjects except Hindi and Sanskrit. At many points throughout this time my parents thought of taking me out of that school and getting me admitted to previous one. I realized not only handling failure is difficult but accepting failure in front of everyone is more difficult. I told a different number of subjects I failed in to all my classmates and to none the truth.
However, after this with the support of my parents I moved over this and joined another tuition to give it another shot. I used to memories everything while I eat, walk, before sleep, travel; complete answers sometimes even without understanding them. I remember once I was walking to my tuition and memorizing one of the science answers, and it had a word ‘soil’ in it, which took me real long to memories with meaning.
Second quarterly exam, Result: Pass in all subjects. All the hard work, sleepless nights, patience came through. From that experience till now I’m holding onto those leanings and it still helps me overcome challenges to achieve my ambitions, like it did that time.
